DREAM is Becoming a Reality for DREAMers

VISANOW and the immigration community have anxiously been awaiting Comprehensive Immigration Reform. For ˜DREAMers’ across America, the recently announced Deferred Action policy was a welcomed policy change.  The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), under the directive of President Obama, has now given over 800,000 undocumented youths the opportunity to gain work permits through Deferred Action.

With President Obama’s latest announcement on June 15th, VISANOW is eager to extend its accredited legal services to undocumented youths intending to apply for Deferred Action. As advocates for our clients, we sympathize with the tremendous burdens that come along with such a unique process. Unlike most attorneys, VISANOW’s customer-oriented services are closely designed to guide you through the Deferred Action process, from start to finish.

What Is Deferred Action:

Deferred Action essentially grants certain undocumented people, temporary immunity from deportation. While similar to the goals of the Dream Act, Deferred Action will allow many DREAMers to safely pursue their lives without the looming threat of deportation. Once an application is submitted, the petitioner will potentially receive 2 years of protected status against deportation with the option for renewal.  Deferred Action- soon to be in effect by August 13th 2012- is one step in the right direction. Unfortunately, these policy changes do not apply to everyone¦

If you are interested in seeking deferred action, please refer to the following eligibility requirements.  An individual must prove that he or she:

  • Was under 31 years old on June 15, 2012;
  • Came to the United States under the age of 16;
  • Has continuously resided in the United States for at least five years before June 15, 2012, and was physically present in the United States on June 15, 2012;
  • Is currently attending school, has graduated from high school, has obtained a G.E.D. certificate, or is an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces or Coast Guard;
  • Has not been convicted of a felony offense, significant misdemeanor offense, multiple misdemeanor offenses, nor otherwise poses a threat to the community or national security.

For young Dreamers who have lived most of their lives restricted by the fear of deportation and the inability to obtain work authorization, time is of the essence.  Many government agencies advise applicants to speak with an Immigration Lawyer about Deferred Action. Traditional immigration attorneys have the freedom to answer your immigration questions at their convenience, making clients wait days for a response. With Deferred Action coming into effect, this is unacceptable.

VISANOW cuts days and hours into minutes with our patented online technology, granting our community of clients the ease and transparency into our unparalleled immigration services.

***Attention All DREAMers!!!**

If you are seeking Deferred Action and work permits under the new policy announced by DHS and President Obama, look to VISANOW! Avoid Notarios and other scammers and get expert assistance from our licensed attorneys.

“Notarios will call themselves immigration consultants, but they cannot represent you in the immigration process. Notarios are often from the same ethnic community as the immigrants they are trying to take advantage of. “AILA (The American Immigration Lawyers Association)

Signs of a Notario and other scammers:

  • If someone says they have connections with any government agency.
  • If someone says you must pay to be referred to an immigration lawyer.
  • If an immigration lawyer doesn’t have a license.
  • If you are asked to sign blank forms.
  • If you are not given a copy or access to forms filed on your behalf.
  • If you are not given proof that your papers have been filed.
  • If there is no contract outlining the fees you must pay and the services that will be provided.

Protect your Personal or Employee’s Immigration Data

By |September 29, 2010|

It is difficult to imagine an activity that involves disclosing more personal information to more people than applying for a visa.  Your recent addresses, employment history, financial compensation, social security number and dependent names are just some examples of information certain visas require.  While the visa application process requires this information, corporations and individuals are becoming increasingly sensitive to employee’s privacy concerns and liability from breaches of data security.

What can you do to protect your employee’s personal data?  Most importantly, understand what information is being requested and why.  Then only provide that information.  Too often immigration service providers request more information than needed.  By understanding what and why something is needed, you reduce the risk of providing and entrusting the information unnecessarily.  Avoid communicating sensitive data and documents insecurely through methods like e-mail and ensure that data and documents are transmitted securely.  Most importantly, work with immigration service providers who are committed to securing your physical documents and electronic information in accordance with best practices in data security.  Verify their claims by asking who has access to your information, how that information is restricted and how long it is affiliated.

VISANOW practices good data security by using a multi-faceted encryption approach for authorization and authentication of customers and encrypting all data at-rest and in transit. Learn more about VISANOW’s security features.
